19. Keeping your elbow back, move your wrist to the centerline

20. Start moving your elbow to the center, while moving your wrist forward in the centerline.

21. Extend so that your elbow is a fist-length away from your body.

  • The elbow should be fist-length away from your body.
  • The tan sao is parallel to the ground
  • Details:

  • Elbow stops a fist-length from body
  • Parallel to or in the center line
  • The Tan Sao should be flat, parallel to the ground

    Application:

  • Isolating the triceps muscle to develop power
  • Jamming an opponent's arm
  • Covering centerline

    Common mistakes:

  • Extending the hand all the way out
  • Tan Sao NOT flat
  • The arm is not parallel to the center line.
  • Bending the wrist
